The HBT Trousers accompanied the HBT Jacket in replacing the Denim Fatigues in 1941. They featured two cargo pockets on each leg. The older, 1941 pattern were pleated pockets and had flaps over them. The newer 1943 version had square cut pockets with flaps and side pleats to allow them to bellow out. In essence, they mirrored the pattern of the jacket that was out at the time. Buttons are either the flat, 13-star metal ones painted black or the olive plastic buttons.
Once again, one must take note of the difference in Army to Marine patterns. They had diagonal cut pockets (much like regular pants, except that the pant leg material served as the pocket lining), and two open cut pockets in the rear. The Marine choice of Sage Green (a lighter green) should also be noted as well as the US Marine style buttons.
