What is Reenacting?

What exactly is reenacting? Reenactors, or more poetically known as Living Historians, are history enthusiasts who've decided to step away from the text books for a moment to immerse themselves in a specific moment in history. In a way, they're actually attempting to step in to the history books to get a feel of what things were like back then.

Each Reenactor has their own reasons as to why they spend many hours and many dollars participating in such a hobby. For some, it's a means to be immersed in history. For others, it's a way to honor those who served this country by remembering their deeds and retelling them. Another reason is they want to be able to teach to others by giving them a real-life example of the soldier they are portraying. But, whether it's one reason or a combination of several, Reenacting is a fun and rewarding experience. Plus, it keeps some of our members off the streets.

How to Join

So, you're interested, but you're not sure where to start. Well, the first big step you need to do is contact your recruiter. Ahem, that is, your Reenacting Group Recruiter. Figure out what you think you'd like to be involved with and drop them a line. They won't bite, nor will they bark your ear off. Remember, we're Living Historians... which kind of means were unlicensed teachers. We're here to help, not dupe you.

There's a lot of units out there to join. There's several US Infantry Divisions to sign up with and even an Airborne unit. There's units who portray our British cousins from across the pond and there's some Soviet units. Of course, you can always play the side of the Axis and portray German, Italian, or even Japanese. We could always use more targets! But, if it's 2nd Armored that you're gunning for, we understand. We've got the fancy rides! So, read on!!
